Hello!
Welcome to my blog!
I have never done this before so bear with me and hopefully I will learn quickly.
The idea of this blog is just to share some ideas of the lessons I’ve created. I love looking at other people’s visions for units of learning so thought I would share mine.
I completed my NQT year in the 2016 – 2017 academic year in a gorgeous Year 4 class. The memories I shared with these children I will never forget. I’m not sure if I will ever have a year like that again – I was the teacher they needed at that time and they were the perfect class for me.
As a primary school teacher, I feel that it is my job, not only to build those foundation skills that are essential for future learning, but also to instill a love of learning: to ignite that curiosity; to plant the seed of how powerful knowledge is. I want every child I teach to believe. Believe that I have utter belief that they can do anything they put their mind to and for them to believe that they can do whatever they put their mind to.
A little card hangs above my desk. One of my learners from last year wrote it. It says, ‘Thank you for always believing in me and telling me I can do things even when I really thought I couldn’t. You were right! I could!’
And that, right there, is why I teach 🙂
